Democratic Services
Local councillors are the democratically elected representatives of local people. It is their job to decide how the council should spend its budget. There are a number of council staff that support councillors in their work. Democratic services officers play a key role in advising council committees on procedures and legislation. Scrutiny advisers provide advice to the council's scrutiny committees. Elections officers and managers are involved in the organisation and smooth operation of local council elections.
